Flexpress grabs Apex IPEX headlines again!

Leicester-based printer Flexpress grabbed the Apex headlines for the second IPEX running as it signed for a new Ryobi 785E B2-format five-colour offset press at the 2010 IPEX show in Birmingham. The deal was sealed on the Apex stand.

Four-years ago the company was again in signing mood at the IPEX show of 2006 when it ordered a DPX System computer-to-plate unit, the 500th machine of that type that UK distributor Apex had sold in the UK.

The latest press purchase will be the star product for a new look Flexpress as it moves to larger premises. "We are moving to larger, new-build industrial premises on the outskirts of Leicester, having outgrown our previous facilities," said Flexpress Managing Director Steve Wenlock. "The new press is a key part of that move, and a natural progression for us as a business. We have been receiving an ever growing number of B2 enquiries from our existing B3 format customers, and are currently farming out a considerable amount of such work." The company is expanding from its current B3 production format, where it uses a Ryobi 524GX press.

Current throughput for the nine-strong team at Flexpress consists of some 35-40% of trade work. The new purchase will allow further growth in the production of multi-page full-colour brochure work, as well as six-page A4 and folder work. "The move to B2 will also allow us to open new doors," added Steve Wenlock.
