H&W Print moves to low chemistry plates

2055Hulbert & Woodall Print Ltd (H&W Print), Wootton Bassett, has announced details of a new platesetter purchase for its SRA2 and B3 print business. The Screen 2055Vi-S system, along with Fujifilm Pro V violet plates, was purchased from UK Ryobi distributor and Screen dealer Apex Digital Graphics, Hemel Hempstead.

The platesetter and plate purchase from Apex represents the continuation of a relationship between the companies that extends back for many years. The Screen 2055 replaces an older Screen 1050 model.

SRA2 production at H&W Print is provided by Sakurai press, whilst B3 work is handled by a five-colour Ryobi machine. The Screen 2055 will be able to manage plate creation for both presses due to its dual cassette feature. Commenting on the arrival of the new CtP system, Managing Director Pete Hulbert said: "The minimal plate processing required with this solution further promotes our company's green credentials, makes it a more user friendly machine for our operators, and means that we have less chemistry to purchase, store and dispose of. The plates produced are still of an exceptional quality, and the whole system is cleaner to use."

The PlateRite 2055Vi-S simplifies the output workflow by accepting preset parameters for a variety of printing presses and media sizes. Parameters include plate size: grip/anti-grip size; image centering; margins; and punch configuration. Media cassettes, which each feature an ID code, can be assigned a media type and destination. The recorder automatically reads the ID code when the cassette is inserted and recalls the appropriate data. This eliminates the time and trouble involved in entering this data each time the cassette is changed.

Fujifilm's Brillia HD PRO-V plate incorporates a new high-sensitivity polymerisation technology. This enables users to achieve that same level of productivity as conventionally processed violet CTP plates without the need for laser upgrades.

The new emulsion technology adopted by Brillia HD PRO-V allows high quality conventional and FM screen printing, whilst the plate utilises the latest low chemistry processing techniques to minimise the environmental impact of plate processing. This latest technology drastically reduces the chemical usage whilst using a much more environmentally friendly processing solution.
